  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For the Mix-Ins:

  • 1 cup holiday-themed chocolate candies (red and green)
  • 1 cup mini pretzels, broken into pieces
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sea salt flakes for sprinkling

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in eggs, one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

Add the Mix-Ins

  1. Fold in Goodies: Gently fold in chocolate candies, pretzels, chocolate chips, and nuts (if using).
  2. Shape Cookies: Scoop dough into 2-tablespoon-sized balls and place on prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each.

Bake and Finish

  1. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  2. Add a Sprinkle of Magic: While cookies are warm, sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
  3. Cool: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
