For the Salsa:

  • 4 medium ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 12 jalapeño peppers, seeds removed and minced (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Salsa

  1. Chop the Vegetables: In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped red onion, minced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.
  2. Add Seasonings: Squeeze in the lime juice, and sprinkle in the salt and cumin (if using). Add minced garlic if desired.
  3. Mix: Stir everything together until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or lime juice as needed.
  4. Let it Rest: For the best flavor, let the salsa sit for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
