French Press Breakfast Chocolate

  • Author: Christine
  • Total Time: 15 min.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole milk (or any milk of your choice like almond or oat milk for a dairy-free option)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or sweetener of choice (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso (about 1 shot)
  • 1 tablespoon dark chocolate (chopped or chips)
  • A pinch of salt (to enhance the chocolate flavor)

Instructions

Prepare the Cocoa Mixture

  1. Heat the Milk: In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling.
  2. Mix the Cocoa: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Combine: Slowly add the warm milk to the cocoa mixture, whisking continuously to ensure that the cocoa and sugar dissolve evenly. This will create a smooth chocolate base.

Add the Coffee and Chocolate

  1. Brew the Coffee: Brew a shot of espresso or strong coffee and add it to your chocolate milk mixture.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: Add the dark chocolate pieces to the mixture and continue stirring until melted and fully incorporated.

French Press Time

  1. Pour into French Press: Pour the warm chocolate-coffee mixture into your French press.
  2. Add Vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Froth: Place the lid on your French press and gently press up and down to froth the mixture. This should take about 30 seconds to 1 minute, depending on how frothy you like your drink.

Serve and Enjoy

  1. Pour into Mugs: Pour the finished French Press Breakfast Chocolate into two mugs.
  2. Garnish (Optional): If you’re feeling extra indulgent, top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cocoa powder, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
  3. Sip and Enjoy: Cozy up and savor every sip of this luxurious, energizing breakfast treat!
