For the French Toast:
- 1 can (8 count) refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing)
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk (whole or any kind you prefer)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)
For the Topping (Optional):
- Maple syrup
- Whipped cream
- Fresh fruit (such as berries or bananas)
Instructions
Prepare the French Toast
- Prepare the Cinnamon Rolls: Open the can of cinnamon rolls and separate the rolls. Cut each roll into quarters. Set the icing aside for later.
- Make the Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until fully combined.
- Heat the Pan: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add the butter, letting it melt and coat the pan.
- Dip the Cinnamon Roll Pieces: Dip the cinnamon roll quarters into the egg mixture, making sure each piece is coated on all sides.
- Cook the French Toast: Place the dipped cinnamon roll pieces into the hot skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy on the outside but soft inside. You may need to do this in batches, depending on the size of your pan.
- Drizzle with Icing: Once all the pieces are cooked, drizzle the reserved icing from the cinnamon rolls over the French toast while still warm.
