Cinnamon Roll French Toast

  • Author: Christine
  • Total Time: 30 min.

Ingredients

Scale

For the French Toast:

  • 1 can (8 count) refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole or any kind you prefer)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)

For the Topping (Optional):

  • Maple syrup
  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh fruit (such as berries or bananas)

Instructions

Prepare the French Toast

  1. Prepare the Cinnamon Rolls: Open the can of cinnamon rolls and separate the rolls. Cut each roll into quarters. Set the icing aside for later.
  2. Make the Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until fully combined.
  3. Heat the Pan: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add the butter, letting it melt and coat the pan.
  4. Dip the Cinnamon Roll Pieces: Dip the cinnamon roll quarters into the egg mixture, making sure each piece is coated on all sides.
  5. Cook the French Toast: Place the dipped cinnamon roll pieces into the hot skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy on the outside but soft inside. You may need to do this in batches, depending on the size of your pan.
  6. Drizzle with Icing: Once all the pieces are cooked, drizzle the reserved icing from the cinnamon rolls over the French toast while still warm.
