Chocolate Dipped Mandarin Oranges

  • Author: Christine
  • Total Time: 15 min.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 mandarin oranges, peeled and separated into segments
  • 1 cup dark or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (optional, for a smoother chocolate coating)
  • Optional Toppings: Crushed nuts, shredded coconut, sprinkles, or flaky sea salt

Instructions

Prepare the Oranges and Toppings

  1. Peel the Oranges: Gently peel the mandarins and separate them into individual segments. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Prepare Toppings: Set up small bowls with your chosen toppings for easy dipping.

Melt the Chocolate

  1. Double Boiler Method: Place the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. Stir until melted and smooth.
  2. Microwave Method: Microwave the chocolate chips and coconut oil in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted.

Dip and Decorate

  1. Dip the Segments: Hold each orange segment by one end and dip it halfway into the melted chocolate.
  2. Add Toppings: Immediately sprinkle your chosen toppings onto the chocolate before it sets.
  3. Place on a Tray: Arrange dipped segments on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Chill and Serve

  1. Chill: Place the tray in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes, or until the chocolate hardens.
  2. Serve: Transfer to a serving plate and enjoy immediately, or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
