- 3–4 mandarin oranges, peeled and separated into segments
- 1 cup dark or milk chocolate chips
- 1 tsp coconut oil (optional, for a smoother chocolate coating)
- Optional Toppings: Crushed nuts, shredded coconut, sprinkles, or flaky sea salt
Instructions
Prepare the Oranges and Toppings
- Peel the Oranges: Gently peel the mandarins and separate them into individual segments. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- Prepare Toppings: Set up small bowls with your chosen toppings for easy dipping.
Melt the Chocolate
- Double Boiler Method: Place the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. Stir until melted and smooth.
- Microwave Method: Microwave the chocolate chips and coconut oil in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted.
Dip and Decorate
- Dip the Segments: Hold each orange segment by one end and dip it halfway into the melted chocolate.
- Add Toppings: Immediately sprinkle your chosen toppings onto the chocolate before it sets.
- Place on a Tray: Arrange dipped segments on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Chill and Serve
- Chill: Place the tray in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes, or until the chocolate hardens.
- Serve: Transfer to a serving plate and enjoy immediately, or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
