Scale
For the Cake:
- 2 (21 oz) cans apple pie filling
- 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
Optional Add-Ins:
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
For Serving:
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
Instructions
Prepare the Base
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Layer the Apples: Spread the apple pie filling evenly in the prepared baking dish. If desired, sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the apples for extra warmth and flavor.
Assemble the Cake
- Add the Cake Mix: Open the box of cake mix and evenly sprinkle it over the apple pie filling. Don’t mix — this is the beauty of a dump cake!
- Drizzle Butter: Pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much surface area as possible.
- Drizzle Caramel: Add the caramel sauce in a zigzag pattern over the top for that luscious caramel flavor.
Bake
- Bake the Cake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
- Cool Slightly: Let the cake cool for about 10 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
