Scale
For the Biscuits:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup whole milk (plus extra for brushing)
For the Apple Butter Spread:
- 1/2 cup apple butter (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
Instructions
Prepare the Dough
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Stir until well blended.
- Cut in Butter: Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix until the butter pieces resemble small peas.
- Add Milk: Slowly pour in the milk, stirring gently until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
Shape and Bake
- Shape the Biscuits: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it into a 1-inch-thick rectangle. Use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut out rounds, reshaping scraps as needed.
- Place on Baking Sheet: Arrange the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
- Brush with Milk: Lightly brush the tops of the biscuits with a little milk for a golden finish.
- Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and risen.
Prepare the Spread
- Mix Apple Butter and Honey: In a small bowl, stir together the apple butter and honey (if using) until smooth.
Serve
- Spread and Enjoy: Serve the warm biscuits with a generous dollop of apple butter. Enjoy!
